Aaron Bell

Though he studied at Xavier University and played in lots of New Orleans bands, Aaron Bell was simply no traditionalist. He was rather one of the better bassists ever within the Duke Ellington music group; his effective lines and elegant, yet durable support supplied a rich existence in the tempo section alongside drummer Sam Woodyard as well as the Duke on piano. Bell is at the Navy from 1942 to 1946, after that caused Andy Kirk in 1947. He came back to his indigenous Oklahoma and trained music before resuming his very own education at NY University. Bell documented and caused Lucky Millinder, Teddy Wilson and Lester Teen within the ’50s, while leading his very own trio. They documented in 1955 and 1958. Bell supported vocalists, and used combos and in the Broadway present “Compulsion” before signing up for Ellington in 1960.
