Blessed to Jamaican parents, Adam Carter moved to Oakland, CA, from Denver along with his family members when he was only five years of age. It had been in the Bay Region where he initial discovered hip-hop, composing his initial rhyme at eight and producing his first defeat just a couple years afterwards. He went to the same primary college as Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Informal, and Tajai, the last mentioned of whom presented him to Phesto and Opio, with whom AN ADVANTAGE (he got his name from his dad, commenting over the levels he brought house) produced Souls of Mischief in senior high school. The trio was agreed upon to Jive and released its initial record, 93 ‘Til Infinity, which helped to start out the growing backpacker hip-hop picture in California. Soon after their second record, No Man’s Property, arrived in 1995, the group was fell from its label, but quickly became a member of in as founding associates from the Hieroglyphics (the first choice & most well-known member getting Del), some sort of collective/unbiased label located in Oakland that self-promoted and self-released information from its performers, and also acquired its own clothes line, among other activities. Although AN ADVANTAGE, who also occasionally passed the name “Plee,” acquired spent a long time functioning as both an MC and a manufacturer, it wasn’t until 2007 that his initial record being a single rapper, My Last Great Deed, premiered.
