A Place to Bury Strangers

Sketching inspiration from shoegaze, classic indie rock and roll, and atmospheric and dark noises of most stripes, the Brooklyn-based A LOCATION to Bury Strangers may be the task of Oliver Ackermann along with a spinning cast of support players. Developing from the ashes from the like-minded Skywave, the band’s primary lineup highlighted Ackermann, Jay Space, and Jono Mofo. Going for a darker, heavier, and much more experimental strategy than Skywave, the trio produced a splash in 2006, documenting and playing gigs with Browse Yellow, Bravo Silva, the Funeral Crashers, as well as the Brian Jonestown Massacre. A LOCATION to Bury Strangers’ 2007 self-titled debut record, that was released by Killer Pimp, presented their sonic assault; they transferred to Mute for 2009’s Exploding Mind, which honed their songcraft in addition to their dedication to beautiful sound. For the 2012 EP Onwards towards the Wall structure, the band relocated inside a darker, louder path similar to its early produces. By enough time of 2012’s Worship, A LOCATION to Bury Strangers experienced trimmed right down to the duo of Ackermann and bassist Dion Lunadon, who documented and created the recording themselves. Drummer Robi Gonzalez also became a member of the music group that year, producing his documented debut on 2015’s propulsive Transfixiation.
