A B & the Sea

Although formed in Wisconsin in early 2008, A B & the ocean relocated almost a year later on to California, an even more appropriate environment for the band’s sunlit power pop. Co-founders Koley O’Brien and Joe Spargur resolved in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, where they pieced collectively a lineup made up of drummer Troy Lawton, bass participant Zak LaVigne, and keyboardist David Hunt. Acquiring cues from several retro pop organizations, A B & the ocean focused their attempts on vocal harmonies and summery hooks, as well as the producing sound received them an area at this year’s 2009 Sound Pop Celebration. By season’s end, they’d also started focusing on a debut record, Basic as Seagulls, using the Morning hours Benders’ Chris Chu offering as producer.
