John Nesbitt

Although a good trumpet soloist, John Nesbitt was even more significant as an arranger during his fairly brief life. He obtained experience using Lillian Jones’ Jazz Hounds and Amanda Randolph. Nesbitt was connected with McKinney’s Natural cotton Pickers from 1925-31 (its important years). He was on all the Natural cotton Pickers’ records throughout that period, and he documented on a day under Jean Goldkette’s name and with the Chocolates Dandies. Nesbitt also added arrangements towards the orchestras of Fletcher Henderson and Luis Russell. After departing the Natural cotton Pickers, Nesbitt caused Zack Whyte, Speed Webb and Earle Warren before his early loss of life. Nesbitt, a relatively ignored name today, hardly ever led his very own recording session.
