Johnny Parker

b. 6 November 1929, Beckenham, Kent, Britain. Parker is usually a self-taught pianist with an excellent talent for single ragtime and boogie woogie but who are able to fit easily right into a band’s tempo section. In the first 50s he caused Mick Mulligan and Humphrey Lyttelton playing the catchy boogie woogie around the latter’s “Poor Penny Blues” strike in 1956. He later on used Monty Sunlight and Kenny Ball but also with Alexis Korner’s Blues Integrated to which he produced a significant contribution as the 60s blues growth got underway.
