The Admirations

This vocal quintet was formed in Brooklyn, NY, USA, in 1958 by 15-year-olds Joe ‘Cookie’ Lorello (lead), Fred Mastanduno (first tenor), Ralph Minichino (baritone), Lou Moshella (bass) and John Mahlan (second tenor). ‘The Bells Of Rosa Rita’ premiered on Mercury Information in November 1959 but didn’t sell well as well as the group disbanded. Nevertheless, they quickly re-formed when Joe Mertens and Diane Salemme changed Mahlan and Minichino. ‘In The Aisle’/‘Hey Senorita’ premiered in 1961, but by that time the music group was again splitting up. The Admirations performed some reunion gigs in 1974 in NY, but this is not a long term return.
