Metabolics

Metabolics came together in 1999 when horror film make-up aficionado and MC Mr. Deadand his menacing sidekick, Big Pat, fulfilled Wordsound kingpin Spectre on the Prince Paul video capture where Deceased was doing make-up. Coming to the helm of the label popular being a haven for the odd, Spectre was used by Metabolics’ cocktail of grisly horror imagery, bizarre sources, and straight-up East Coast-style rapping. The M-Virus, their Wordsound debut, highlighted production and efforts from New Kingdom’s Scott Harding, Prince Paul, and Spectre himself. Deceased and Pat had been immediately recognized by the bigger hip-hop community as two even more soldiers within the Wordsound battle against sucka MCs — particularly, purveyors from the pop/hip-hop audio that dominated the air and music tv. Despite important acclaim, nevertheless, The M-Virus was practically ignored. Even so, Mr. Deceased persevered. In 2001, Metabolics, Vol. 2: Dawn from the Deceased made an appearance. While billed being a Deceased solo work, the record was essentially a reasonable step of progress in Metabolics’ development, concentrating the duo’s audio in the whirring crazy dynamo inside Dead’s mind. Vol. 2 also highlighted Big Pat on many tracks, alongside knob-twirling from likeminded miscreants Dan the Automator, Scotty Hard, and M. Sayyid of Antipop Consortium.
