8STOPS7 had its beginnings in Ventura Region, CA, in 1996; bandmembers Evan Sula-Goff (vocals, acoustic guitar), Seth Watson (acoustic guitar), Adam Powell, (drums), and Alex Viveros (bass) performed their 1st gig on Feb 21, 1997, Sula-Goff’s 21st birthday. In 1998, they individually released their self-produced debut recording, Delivery of a Cynic, and these were courted by main labels. They authorized with Reprise Information, which released In Moderation in Oct 1999. The band’s uncommon name may be the consequence of some intentionally hazy quantity symbolism. Relating to band people, the “8” in 8STOPS7 resembles the infinity mark, while the quantity seven represents a bunch of unpleasant, restricting things such as the a week from the week, the seven many years of misfortune, and seven plagues. Stated bandmember Sula-Goff, “Essentially, seven is symbolic of something you intend to move away from, and eight may be the door you proceed through to make it happen.” 8STOPS7 mixed this philosophizing with an alternative solution rock style plus some thoughtful lyrics that assist make their deep thoughts fairly available. 8STOPS7 embarked on its 1st nationwide tour in the wintertime of 1999-2000 as “My Would-Be Savior” and “Satisfied” put into graphs of radio play on rock and roll channels. Aaron Johnson, also from Ventura Region, was earned as second guitarist, producing them a quintet.
