Guitarist Expenses Dolan, drummer John Herndon, bassist LeRoy Bach and key pad participant Jeremy Jacobsen formed the instrumental fusion/funk group 5ive Design. The group’s self-titled debut made an appearance in 1995; pursuing a protracted break which allowed Herndon to come back to his responsibilities in Tortoise and Dolan the opportunity to record an LP along with his side task Heroic Dosages, 5ive Style came back in 1999 with Small Portraits.
